Professional and apprenticeship standards

Employer-led professional and apprenticeship standards for the sport and physical activity sector

CIMSPA is the guardian of a single professional and apprenticeship standards framework for the sport and physical activity sector – outlining the minimum knowledge, skills and behaviours an individual must understand and demonstrate for every occupation and job role in the sector.

This standards framework is driving the development of quality education products for our workforce and supporting employers in assessing which job roles an individual is qualified for.

Professional standards are the sector's Golden Rules

The standards framework is also being used to develop career maps which offer individuals realistic expectations of job prospects, with clearly outlined training that is required to transition through the pathway to meet their career ambitions and maintain their professional status.

Over 40 professional and apprenticeship standards have already been published with several more in development, across the industry areas including roles in exercise and fitness, leisure operations, community sport, health and wellbeing and management.
